Donna J. Turner

Donna J. Turner peacefully passed away in her home on Long Lake, WA, March 5, 2009 with her husband of 50 years by her side.  Donna was born November 21, 1938 to James Donald and Myrtle May Collier in Spokane, WA.  She graduated from Reardan High School, Reardan WA in 1957. After high school she worked as a medical records keyboard operator and served as a Spokane Diamond Spur Rodeo Princess in 1958. She was married to James L. Turner in late 1958 and began to raise a family the next year.  Due to Jim’s career transfers the family lived in Salina, KS, Corvallis, OR, Redding, CA and Spokane, WA.  In 1971 the family moved to Deer Park, WA were they resided for 24 years.  In 2001 she and Jim moved to Long Lake, north of Reardan, less than a mile from where she grew up on the Broken Arrow Ranch.  Donna was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend.  She loved animals, nature and country living and had several animal stories published in a national magazine.  She was an accomplished western equestrian and shared her love of horses and the outdoors with her children, grandchildren sister and friends.  She is survived by her loving husband Jim; her 97 year old mother Myrtle; her brother and sister, Dave and Connie; her beloved children, Tina, Laurel and Bill; her eight grandchildren and many nephews, nieces and cousins.  A memorial service will be held Tuesday, March 17, 2009, 2:00pm at the Audubon Park United Methodist Church, Spokane, WA.  A reception will follow.  In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial gifts be made in Donna’s name to Hospice of Spokane, c/o NEWHP, P.O.
